Exhaust Fan Hinge Kit's

Mid State Fire Prevention recommends that you protect every exhaust fan with a hinge kit. A hinged exhaust fan helps reduce the risk of accidental damage to exhaust fans.

An exhaust fan hinge kit acts like a door frame for the exhaust fan and creates an angle that allows our professional hood cleaning team to safely tilt the fan to open properly in order to clean the inside of the fan blades and down into the ductwork.

Without a hinge kit, the entire fan must be removed during the cleaning process and set to the side of the duct and on the roof membrane. This can lead to unnecessary damage to your fan, a possible puncture of the roof from a sharp corner or the conduit wiring getting pulled out.

There are many different styles of hinge kits available for restaurant exhaust fans, but they all perform the same basic function. As a hinge, it creates a movable joint that connects the exhaust fan to the curb and allows the exhaust fan to be swung open and closed. Hinge kits will have a chain attachment, and a locking pin, or other mechanism to keep the fan from tilting back too far.

Exhaust fan hinge kits are required to be installed on any restaurant exhaust fan serving a kitchen grease exhaust. This requirement is set forth by the National Fire Protection Association NFPA #96 fire code standards.

Choosing the right hinge kit depends on many things including the size and weight of the exhaust fan, the space you have to work with around the exhaust fan, installation difficulty. Hinge Kits are designed to keep the fan from opening all the way with the chain supports. The stability and safety should be number one priority.Improper hinging happens far too often and leads to a multitude of problems, including roof damage. Typically, these problems are caused by a hinge that is the wrong size for a fan, or no hinge at all.

Standard Exhaust Fan Hinge

Designed for most all fans. A little more expensive than the Standard Duty L-Bar Hinge Kit, but can be installed with limited space requirements.

Oversized Exhaust Fan Hinge

Designed for applications where the fan base is smaller than the curb. In these cases, you need a heavier hinge to hold the fan open. More expensive than the Heavy Duty L-Bar Hinge Kit, but can be installed with limited space requirements.

Hinge kits eliminate safety hazards and provide easy access to the inside of the fan for inspection, cleaning, and maintenance. They allow the fan to be held open at the correct angle and in a locked position. With a hinge kit installed, there is no need for anyone to remove a heavy, greasy fan, possibly dropping it.

Let's create a partnership to keep your commercial kitchen exhaust system running as effective and efficient as possible.
